Target is making a $10 million commitment to support ongoing resources to advance social justice and also support rebuilding and recovery efforts in local communities.
“Target stands with Black families, communities and team members. As we face an inflection point in Minneapolis and across the country, we’re listening to our team, guests and communities, committed to using our size, scale and resources to help heal and create lasting change,” Brian Cornell, chairman and CEO of Target said.
Initial efforts from the Minneapolis-based retailer include a $10 million investment to support such long-standing partners as the National Urban League and the African American Leadership Forum, as well as adding new partners across the country.
Also available will be 10,000 hours of pro-bono consulting services for Black and people of color owned small businesses in the Twin Cities, helping with rebuilding efforts.
There will be continued availability to such essentials as baby formula, diapers, medicine and other products to communities in most need, and Target Circle will offer guests the option to direct Target funds to local nonprofits supporting social justice.

In the Minneapolis-St. Paul region, the Target Foundation will continue to partner with local nonprofit organizations that address systemic and structural barriers facing communities of color, the company said.
