Based on a publication from Jamie Grill-Goodman in Retail Info Systems, 13 Best Retail Employers to Work for 2022.
Los 13 mejores empleadores retail para trabajar en 2022
Even in the face of challenges and resignations, some retailers are still gathering great reviews from their valued employees. Discover the best American places to work in retail according to the employees themselves.
Retail workers have captured the media spotlight, putting the retailers that employ them under a new light.
The pandemic, which first left millions of Americans jobless, also put employed retail associates on the front lines. Heralded as heroes in the beginning, now almost two years later, many frontline workers are worn down. The “Great Resignation” now splashes headlines, as people quit their jobs at record rates.
“The world of work is rapidly evolving, fueled by the pandemic and now millions of workers reevaluating their expectations of employers,” said Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong. “This year’s Best Places to Work winners are leading the way by listening and responding to employee feedback and reimagining the employee experience to truly put their people first. It’s inspiring to see these employers step up during the pandemic to expand and grow company cultures where employees feel supported and valued in and out of work.”
The Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards feature six distinct categories, including honors for the Best Places to Work across the U.S., Canada, UK, France and Germany. In the U.S., Glassdoor has revealed the 100 Best Places to Work (honoring employers with 1,000 or more employees) and 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work For (honoring employers with fewer than 1,000 employees).
Of the top four industries to grace the full list, retail tied for second place: Technology (40 companies), Retail (9 companies), Manufacturing (9 companies), Finance (7 companies). [Editor’s note: While RIS included them on the below list, Glassdoor lists Estee Lauder and Malour as manufacturing companies, and eBay and Apple as technology companies.]
When looking at RIS’ breakdown, lululemon, Trader Joe’s, and H E B took the top three spots, heralded for things like benefits, scheduling flexibility, and pay. Workers said things like:
“Great benefits, including health care, investment options, and money to work out each month.” — lululemon Retail Sales Associate (Honolulu, HI)
“Small company feel with big company benefits. Great health insurance, retirement, and 2x per year raise. Super flexible with scheduling.” — Trader Joe’s Crew Member (Chicago, IL)
“Culture, good pay, growth opportunities, schedule flexibility and bonus pay.” — H E B Beauty Department Manager (McAllen, TX)
Common themes across the entire list include continued communication and support amid COVID-19; flexible working environments; transparent senior leadership plus access to executives; good health benefits and perks; and mission-driven company cultures.
The following retailers below made Glassdoor’s 100 Best Places to Work – U.S. list.
