As a perishable product, being held at the border for inspections (92% of all imports?) means a higher potential for normal spoilage, but as giving the US grower collectives have more time to file ‘dumping’ investigations (a tactic too often used)… which takes time and means they rot in US warehouses. Great for US landfill companies, not so good for any mfgr that uses tomatoes and not at all for consumers.»
