Amazon has reportedly opened its second Amazon Go cashierless grocery store.

According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Amazon is operating a 13,000-sq.-ft. Amazon Go grocery store in a former Sears Auto Center location in the Seattle suburb of Redmond, Wash.

The first Amazon Go grocery store opened in February, in Seattle. The store is modeled on — and uses the same technology as — Amazon Go but on a bigger scale. It features a larger footprint (10,400 sq. ft. overall, with 7,700 sq. ft. in front of house) compared to Amazon Go stores, which range from 450 sq. ft. to 2,700 sq. ft. front of house) and a much wider assortment of product, with about 5,000 unique items.

In July 2020, Amazon publicly said it would open Amazon Go grocery stores in Redmond, Wash., and Washington D.C., as part of a wider grocery expansion. That expansion has also included the August 2020 opening of Amazon’s highly anticipated grocery store model – Amazon Fresh – in Woodland Hills, Calif. Amazon Fresh includes the Amazon Dash Cart smart shopping cart, Amazon Alexa voice-activated shopping, and direct same-day delivery and pickup services.
