Dior has opened its long-anticipated third standalone store in Barcelona, and very much in sync with the global prestige of the fashion house, it has picked a spot on Passeig de Gràcia, the city’s golden mile of luxury shopping. The boutique occupies spacious ground floor unit of a landmark building which was renovated and given an acclaimed ornate façade in 1904 by Catalan architect Enric Sagnier i Villavecchia. The interior design, created by New York City-based and longtime collaborator Peter Marino, takes cues from the luxury brand’s flagship on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, but is infused with modern elements and one-off artworks and furnishings to give it a unique setting.

The palette combines greys, silver, metallic, and last but not least, plenty of mirrors, captured by a variety of materials and textures. The ground floor is divided into two sections, presenting the bag collection and small leather goods. One floor up, by way of a staircase encapsulated by floral murals of French artist Yoram Mevorach, it’s where Dior’s ready-to-wear collection for women can be found in a salon-like setting, replete with seating arrangements and a sculptural fireplace created by fraternal contemporary artists Juan and Paloma Garrido. Also on the premises is a V.I.P. lounge, furnished with pieces from designer Sebastian Brajkovic’s lathe collection.
