Innovación: Anheuser-Busch giving away free beer fridges for Chicago offices

Anheuser-Busch is giving away free refrigerators for office use that connect with a beer delivery service when supplies run low.

The new Bud-e Fridge that holds 180 beers is connected to wi-fi that alerts a beer delivery service when it needs to be restocked, the brewer said Tuesday. The fridge is free, the beer is not.

The fridge designs include three craft brands A-B acquired in recent years —Goose Island, Blue Point and Golden Road — in addition to Bud Light, Budweiser and Shock Top.

So far, the fridges are only available in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. A-B partnered with Buzz Connect to develop the technology.

Last year, A-B debuted $299 Bud Light ‘smart’ home beer fridges in California that allowed customers to check how much beer they had from their smartphones.

St. Louis is the North America headquarters for A-B InBev.
