DavidsTea makes a splash for iced tea

 

DavidsTea is kicking off iced tea season with a splashy event in Toronto.

The Montreal-based tea chain is hosting a rooftop party for media and influencers at the Drake Hotel’s Sky Yard on June 13. The event will promote DavidsTea’s new Boardwalk Collection of teas—five “fairground-inspired” blends that are great on ice—as well as its Iced Tea Press, an in-house designed travel mug that lets people steep iced tea on the go.

“Tea is a sensory product you can touch, smell and taste, so the opportunity to create experiences through events and product previews is an important part of what we do,” said Melanie Barbusci, director of customer engagement at DavidsTea.

The event will feature a make-your-own iced tea bar, and guests can learn tips on pairing tea with food from DavidsTea tea specialist Billy Dietz. Summer tea-infused cocktails like La La Long Island Iced Tea and Pink Pineapple Colada will be served to guests.

“As a brand, we’ve always focused on making loose leaf tea fun, easy and accessible. And our approach to iced tea is no exception,” said Barbusci. “From our unique and innovative tea flavours (think Grape Freeze, Chocolate Covered Bananas and Cotton Candy) to our Iced Tea Press, we’re totally revolutionizing what iced tea can be. We love the classics, but it’s so much more than just black tea with lemon and sugar.”

DavidsTea will have a dedicated SnapChat filter and hashtag for the event to encourage social media sharing. Throughout the summer, DavidsTea will be sharing new iced tea recipes via its email communications and social channels. It will also be sampling and selling its iced teas at festivals and events. Most recently, DavidsTea was at the Field Trip music festival in Toronto.
