“The connected consumer is rapidly disrupting retail, creating a new imperative for brands to deliver smarter, more personal shopping experiences everywhere,” said Jeff Barnett, CEO, Commerce Cloud, Salesforce. “Commerce Cloud Einstein accelerates this transformation by lowering the barriers of AI for every retailer, empowering them to build consumer loyalty with every interaction and increase conversion across every channel.”

One of the new functions machine learning affords the Commerce Cloud is a predictive capability which learns to personalize the order that products appear in on eCommerce search and category pages. This is accomplished by factoring in order history data and web browsing behavior of each individual shoppers.

Additionally, Salesforce has added an intelligent order management solution to its Commerce Cloud which enables retailers to connect customer demand with inventory supply, the company said, by collecting and managing key order data and inventory data across stores, warehouses and vendors.

The upgrade to Commerce Cloud also integrates Android Pay, said Salesforce, along with a mobile site architecture reference to address the fact hat customers see a majority of their traffic coming from mobile devices.

To date, Salesforce reportedly powers billions of consumer interactions at above 2,000 retail sites in 53 countries. The tech giant is looking to grow in the eCommerce space as retailers shift to unified platforms. Data from NRF cited by the company pegs 86 percent of retailers have a plan to implement a unified commerce platform over the next ten years.
