Saks Off 5th on the lower level of the Bay across from the Rideau Centre was temporarily closed Thursday after an early morning flood turned the fashion store into a shallow wading pool.

Ottawa fire officials responded to a call just before 7 a.m., arriving at the store minutes later to ensure a main valve in question was closed.

In an email Thursday afternoon, the store said the problem had been a sprinkler line malfunction.

“The Saks OFF 5TH at Rideau Centre is temporarily closed,” the email read. “We are working to re-open the store as soon as possible, to continue to serve and delight our customers.”.
